Boston Logan International Airport introduced Amelia; a life-sized, AI-powered hologram concierge designed to help passengers navigate the terminals.
What Amelia Does
- Wayfinding: Guides travelers to gates, restaurants, shops, lounges, and baggage claim with step-by-step directions and live mapping.
- QR Codes: Generates scannable QR codes so you can send walking directions directly to your phone.
- Live Updates: Provides real-time information and updates from the TSA.
- Multilingual: Communicates in up to 40 languages (including initial support for English, Spanish, and French).
- Human Handoff: Connects passengers to a live customer service representative if she cannot solve an issue.
- Around the Clock: Operates 24/7, providing assistance during late-night and early-morning hours when human information desks are closed

- Locations: There are nine units deployed across the airport terminals (built in partnership with Proto Hologram and Holomedia AI).
- Accessibility: Features high-contrast displays, closed captioning, wheelchair-accessible positioning, and web-compliant map layouts.
- Technology: Uses a volumetric digital projection inside a self-contained luminous box with a touchscreen and no external hardware required
